One thing that intrigues me: Why do people fear growing 'old'? (or rather growing UP) It's almost always the case where people (esp. the females) go kinda hysterical knowing that they will be hitting the '2', '3'..'4' soon.. If there's no running away from that fact or from a natural, common sense process that as time goes by we will eventually grow OLD, then why not embrace that fact?

Every phase of life is a different and unique experience.. And the fact that we will have more responsibilities and bigger challenges means that we should already have the capacity to contain and deal with them.. This can be so when we use our experiences, good and bad, in our previous phases of life wisely to equip and prepare us for the next phase.. Isn't that a happy knowlegde that we have grown bigger on the inside? So why look back enviously at our 'smaller' state? In fact, they should pale in comparison..

Yes teenage years may be free and reckless, we did whatever we felt like doing at the spur of moment... We became rebellious towards our parents because we wanted things done one way: OUR way. We sulked and threw tantrums when we didn't get what we wanted. (at least that was for me, but i'm sure that doesn't rise any eyebrow) We were still trying to know ourselves.. The future ahead seemed like infinity where there were/are so many paths to take. Thank God for our rigid education system where we didn't quite have to rack our brains in deciding which direction to go.. You can say I was lazy to think, so I took the 'traditional route' and decided to decide LATER..

However, as much as I like my teenage years, I am very much looking forward to my 20s! Correct me if I'm wrong, I think a lot of people have this assumption/conclusion that teenage years are the most fun time of our life.. While it may be true, I also beg to differ. We travel in the direction of what we think of ourselves.. Unless you think that you become more boring when you grow older, then the above assumption/conclusion is totally true for you. But I'd like to challenge that statement, I wanna make every phase of my life the most fun! (Idealistic?) And when I grow old, I'd still want to have a little tinkle in my eyes.. I'm glad to be surrounded with friends who love life, I think they are the best gifts anyone can ever have..

Certainly, we will fall. But to be a conqueror and move on, we have to jump up again and face our fears head-on. Asa!!
